Stephen M. Rauh, M.D.
Dr. Rauh grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio where he attended college and medical school. In 1982 he began his career in Rochester, where his wife and then small children could be near her family. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Rochester, and trained in Colon & Rectal Surgery at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Rauh joined Rochester Colon & Rectal Surgeons, P.C. (RCRS) in 1988. The Rauhs live in Webster.
Dr. Rauh was the first in upstate New York to adopt many technologies such as laparoscopic colon surgery (1993) and robotic colorectal surgery (2008). Both such groundbreaking technologies in colon and rectal sugery took place at Rochester General Hospital. He leads the largest team of fully board certified colon specialists in Rochester. His practice, RCRS, has provided more varied and numerous robotic colon surgeries than any group in the state of New York and probably the country.
His interests include Transanal Surgery, Crohn's and ulcerative colitis care, streamlining perioperative care for shorter hospital stays, restoring bowel control (fecal incontinence) diverticulitis treatments (including nonsurgical) and treating colorectal cancer without colostomies.
